How a 400-Year-Old Book About Honey Bees Inspired My Artistic Nude Photography Collection: The Feminine Monarchy

Have you ever wondered why my fine art photography book is called The Feminine Monarchy? I was blankly staring at my computer screen one ordinary day when the phrase “The Feminine Monarchy” appeared. A quick search revealed it was the title of Charles Butler’s 1609 classic - a pioneering English study on the world of bees and their queen-led hive society. The name resonated immediately. For over ten years I had been capturing elegant, empowering portraits of beautiful women through my fashion nude and artistic nude photography in Asia. “The Feminine Monarchy” perfectly evoked the poise, beauty, and quiet strength of my subjects—much like the majestic queen bee at the heart of her harmonious realm. And so, my long-awaited photography book and this website The Feminine Monarchy found its perfect title. I believe it’s an absolutely apt description
